The World Series of Poker Circuit is well into its 2019-2020 season, both for international and US Circuit series that originally started in July 2019. The second half of each tour’s season began in January.

As the end of the season inches closer, the World Series of Poker decided to reveal more information about the season-ending WSOP Circuit finale.

2020 Global Casino Championship

The 16th season of the WSOP Circuit will end for the US tour in May and the international tour in June. As the WSOP then plays out in Las Vegas, the WSOP Circuit will prepare for its finale now set for August 11-13, 2020.

The Global Casino Championship will actually take place amidst one of the stops on the next season’s tour. While the 2020-2021 season has yet to be announced, one of the stops will be at the Harrah’s Cherokee in North Carolina, the same location as in past years. That series will start on August 6 and run through August 17, featuring a $1,700 WSOP Circuit Main Event.

Who Will Play?

Some players have already earned their complimentary seats into the Global Casino Championship, while others have yet to win their entries.

The WSOP Circuit is still inviting players to compete, as every Main Event winner in the 2019-2020 season receives a free entry into the tournament. The Casino Champion at each tour stop also receives an entry. When the May and June stops are completed, the US Circuit leaderboard will showcase the top 50 players of the season, each of whom will win a seat into the finale.

Of the 154 qualifiers, there will be as many as 120 from the US Circuit and another 34 from the international stops.

All qualifiers will receive a $500 travel stipend to make the trek to Harrah’s Cherokee Casino. US-based players will also receive three nights of accommodations at the resort, while international players will win four nights. All players making the final table of the Global Casino Championship will be given another complimentary night.

Buy-ins to the event will cost $10K but be limited to players who won a gold ring event at any stop on the WSOP Circuit – domestic or international – throughout the 2019-2020 season. They will pay no rake on their buy-in.

In addition, all players in the top 100 of the WSOP Player of the Year rankings from 2019 can buy in.

The WSOP will put $1 million into the prize pool, and all other buy-ins will add to that amount.

King’s Casino announced that the guarantees on its prize pools for the series happening right now were removed, and there is a chance that the series may be stopped before scheduled. These kinds of decisions are mostly at the mercy of individual country governments as they try to stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
